Hi Everyone,
I have the same response Moira does of (the criminally underrated) “Schitt$ Creek” when someone asks me what my favorite season is:
I had done a post like this A few Oscars back of gowns I’d love to see glide down the Red Carpet, and was right in some of the Designers chosen, so why not do another? Here are a few looks for the bevy of nominated beauties we’d all kill to see them in.
Check back next week to see if any of these incredible women donned these gorgeous confections and more importantly to see who we loathed. Which is really why we read these things…
Be sure to catch The 89th Academy Awards this Sunday and a review a full list of nominee’s now. So take a look and enjoy your weekend— it’s going to be gorgeous out there!

BEST ACTRESS
L to R: Elie Saab, Chanel, Versace
Emma Stone, “La La Land”
Emma Stone is a personal favorite of mine on the screen, Red Carpet, and generally as a person. She’s so damn talented and versatile we’re going to have her around for a long, long time giving us continual quality work.
Ms.Stone’s Fashion choices also run the gamut and have been ladylike and sophisticated without being boring. Cool and modern, yet still eternally classic, is her game. Any of the above options would make my heart jump out of my chest. She also could totally throw us a curveball and do custom Gucci, Valentino, or feathered Calvin Klein and surprise us all!
If I had to pick: Even though we know she’ll surprise us in something custom, that Chanel is classic yet modern and incredible youthful.
L to R: Valentino, Roland Mouret, Chanel, Alexander McQueen
L to R: Armani Prive Chanel, Armani Prive
Isabelle Huppert, “Elle”
Isabelle Huppert is Frances Meryl Streep and much like that powerhouse, she’s always fun to watch on the Red Carpet for her effortless style and still having that rockin’ bod at 63. Not one to shy away from a Designer label, Madame Huppert will most likely be choosing Armani. She attended their latest Couture show but a house like Chanel, being French and all, isn’t out of the running. It’ll be tres chic whatever she goes with.
If I had to pick: Tie between the Tin Man Chanel and Wicked Witch Armani on the right.
L to R: Armani, Chloe, Dior, Valentino
L to R: Louis Vuitton, Giambattista Valli, Louis Vuitton
Ruth Negga, “Loving”
Ruth Negga has an incredibly interesting style and gorgeous face: two of my favorite things. As sh’s had some serious brand loyalty to Louis Vuitton, she’ll most likely be wearing the house on Sunday. Both styles above — Sophie Turner already wore the left LV look perfectly—would be stunning silhouttes on Ms.Negga if she wanted something structured. Part of me wants an etherial moment though for this beauty and that flowy Giambattista would do it for me.
If I had to pick: It no doubt will be Louis Vuitton but that Giambattista would be stunning flowing down the Red Carpet. Don’t count out Rodarte either as a choice.
L to R: Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Valentino, Rodarte
L to R: Valentino, Gucci, Givenchy
Meryl Streep, “Florence Foster Jenkins”
While Meryl Streep famously played the most iconic Fashionista to grace the silver screen in the last decade she’s not really one for Fashion, yet somehow, she always ends up wearing full on Designer and making it look like she just threw it on. This is actually a compliment as her effortlessness is unmatched even if she tends to look like an Art Teacher.
If I had to pick: All three would be stunning on this dame but something about that Givenchy feels right for this icon.
L to R: Stella McCartney, Unknown, Valentino, Givenchy
All looks, Dior
Natalie Portman, “Jackie”
While her first maternity Academy gown was Rodarte and even though recently wore Prada to the Globes (below), with that Dior contract ($$$), I’d say all eyes are on the French house…
If I had to pick: The middle confection as it would compliment the Mum to be’s bump. But something custom is in her future, no doubt.
L to R: Dior, Prada, Dior, Alexander McQueen
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
L to R: Valentino, Gucci, Versace
Nicole Kidman, “Lion”
Nicole Kidman tends to bring it on the Red Carpet and Sunday no doubt will be epic. I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes. Ms.Kidman goes either sweet and sugary or va va voom sexed up Fashion-girl and either way I cannot wait.
If I had to pick: As incredible as that Versace is, and hope she wears it to something else, that Gucci is what Fashion dreams are made of. if Ms.Kidman doesn’t don it, someone needs to strut down the Red Carpet in that on Sunday.
L to R: Gucci, Brandon Maxwell, Alexander McQueen, Armani
L to R: Oscar de la Renta, Jenny Packham, Badley Mischka
Viola Davis, “Fences”
How doesn’t Viola Davis have an Oscar yet? This is confusing and painful and I think will change on Sunday. The gorgeous gal has been sporting a lot of color and shimmer as of late and, she always dresses like it’s Summer and I kind of love that, so here’s to hoping whatever she chooses pops. For the Academy Awards though I think it’ll be a more subtle yet equally stunning offering.
If I had to pick: Viola is no doubt going home with the Gold and the Packham gown could be incredibly complimentary. Similar to what her buddy Meryl did not too long ago.
L to R: Jenny Packham, Michael Kors, Michael Kors, Vivienne Westwood
L to R: Armani Prive, Marchesa, Gucci
Naomie Harris, “Moonlight”
As you can see below Naomie Harris loves to have fun with Fashion and I love her for that. I have been a big fan of hers since her firs 007 press tour. But on no doubt the biggest night of her career I have a feeling she’ll go more classic than sartorial.
If I had to pick: Marchesa in a much bolder hue.
L to R: Armani, Gucci, Stella McCartney, Lanvin
L to R: Tadashi Shoji, Christian Siriano, Tadashi Shoji
Octavia Spencer, “Hidden Figures”
If you haven’t seen “Hidden Figures,” run to do not walk. It’s incredible and Octavia is beyond deserving of this nomination. She generally sticks with custom Tadashi and I feel on such a spectacular night she will do the same. Though her Laura Basci suit below and the fact she’s been wearing a lot of Siriano lately does make me wonder…
If I had to pick: Siriano for those dramatic bell sleeves alone.
L to R: Tadashi, Laura Basci, Tadashi, Tadashi
All looks, Louis Vuitton
Michelle Williams, “Manchester by The Sea”
Louis Vuitton will be the choice….there is nothing else to say. Michelle and LV have made for an interesting pair as of late so heres to hoping this streak continues.
If I had to pick: N/A; it will be custom, and probably futuristic gold. That shade of electric Blue would be fantastic on Ms.Williams though.
L to R: All, Louis Vuitton
