Michelle Obama, Custom Versace- The White House State Dinner
Let’s start this off right. In the words of Beyonce, “I slay.”
Our fabulous FLOTUS rocked a custom Rose Gold Versace gown that was the definition of breathtaking. The draping, the construction, the just the right amount of train. Her overall confidence make this a 15 out of 10.
Between those sleek locks and perfect make-up, I have no words. We will miss you and Barack in the White House, Shelly.
Elizabeth Olsen, Vionnet- 2016 American Ballet Theatre Fall Gala
My favorite Avenger, Elizabeth Olsen, attended the Ballet this week in a super sophisticated, very modern, take on evening wear in a Vionnet sparkling pleated gown with slicked back glossy waves, dewey make-up, and her killer smile.
While regal and lovely, the look is youthful and fun as the dress is slightly sheer without veering into trash territory. Styled with unique Hiro Taka pearled jewelry and a M2Malletier architectural clutch this is the perfect example of a contemporary, and cool, twist on formalwear.
Rachel Mcadams, Atelier Versace- “Doctor Strange” LA Premiere
Ms.Olsen’s wasn’t the only Marvel babe to grace a Red Carpet this week. Rachel McAdams shut it down in custom Atelier Versace. Shut. It. Down.
Ms.McAdams taupe dress had a gorgeous structural flounce from bust to hem lined with lavender in several different fabrics giving the look tons of dimension. It was even gorgeous from the back. Bouncy hair and a berry lip made complimented her gorgeous gown.
One of her best to date, easily.
Tilda Swinton, Haider Ackerman- “Doctor Strange” LA Premiere
Tilda Swinton is a Fashion Icon. She has incredible taste that is spellbinding and unique; it’s always a pleasure to see her on a Red Carpet.
Ms.Swinton teamed up with BFF designer Haider Ackerman giving us Elphaba Realness in this metallic pleated Green gown with structured belt and liquid train. This is not everyone’s cup of tea, nor should it be, as Tilda’s style is so distinct and refreshing only she could do this right.
Julianna Margulies, Carolina Hererra- 2016 American Ballet Theatre Fall Gala
Even with all that Botox and a severely pulled back hair, Julianna Margulies looks stunning in her Black and White floral lace Carolina Hererra cocktail dress.
Elizabeth Olsen, Cinq à Sept- 5th Annual Hilarity for Charity Variety Event
Earlier this week Lizzie gave us the perfect Fall offering in a sexy Victorian-esque Cinq à Sept burnt ochre blouse paired with stovepipe trousers, Marni platform pumps, and a chic The Row bag.
Ms.Olsen’s refreshing take on Fall is a great example of a day-to-night, office-to-event outfit that is understatedly cool. Perfect waves and a crimson lip rounded out her look.
Michelle Monaghan, Vintage Chanel- 2016 Veuve Polo Classic
Michelle Monaghan: so effortlessly cool it hurts.
Anna Camp, Giamattista Valli- Good Girls Revolt NYC Premiere
Watch “True Blood” and you’ll understand my love for Anna Camp. Besides being talented to boot, Ms.Camp is adorable. Which is why I am not crazy about this lovely Giambattista Valli embellished mini on her.
The styling is great; right length, perfect shoe, great hair…but it feel a bit too young and prissy for her. She can do better and she can do cooler, not to mention the sleeve length is driving me up a wall. This should have been saved for a brunette so it wouldn’t have come off so sugary.
Elizabeth Olsen, Kenzo x H&M- Kenzo x H&M Launch
Yes, Elizabeth Olsen just showed up to a Fashion Show wearing Kenzo for H&M PJ’s and killed it. Pairing velvet Jimmy Choo pumps with PJ’s on a Red Carpet? I love it. So chic, so chic.
Meryl Streep, Marni- “Florence Foster Jenkins” Rome Film Festival Photocall
Meryl Streep is wearing what your cool single 60-something Aunt’s “roommate” would wear to your Art show.
Lupita Nyong’o, Kenzo x H&M- Kenzo x H&M Launch
Lupita Nyong’o: always a treat to see on a Red Carpet. The Oscar Winner’s multicolored multi-layered dress fits her personal style to a T and the addition of colored hoops and headpiece was an unexpected chic choice. Can’t say it’s the best, or most interesting, shoe choice but it doesn’t ruin the outfit.
Helena Bonham Carter- Out in New York City
Helena Bonham-Carter’s look screams “off duty lesbian librarian that just had a one night stand.” And y’know what? Good for her!
Lady Gaga, Versace- Out in New York City
If you’ve listened to the latest Lady Gaga album, which is actually quite good, you’ll know she’s in a bit of a Country-Folk mood so why not take it to the streets of New York in a leather Versace Western themed ensemble?
She’s Lady Gaga. She can do whatever the hell she wants. Back off.
Khloe Kardashian, Goosebury and Good America – Good America Denim Launch
It’s not that I’m against plastic surgery, but when you actually start to look like Frankenfurter…
Iman, Kenzo x H&M- Kenzo x H&M Launch
Like fine wine, and with the help of a good dermatologist, Iman has stopped aging.
Lady Gaga, Valentino- T Magazine Party
Gaga was honored by The New York Times this week and wore an incredibly dramatic Valentino Victorian style gown and cape reminiscent of her “American Horror Story: Hotel” character The Countess. Naturally she paired it with a cat eye and Bitch stompin’ boots.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Prabal Gurung- 2016 Friends of Hudson River Park Gala
SJP had quite and eclectic outing this week.
Choosing a stunning crushed velvet burn out Prabal Gurung dress, SJ threw on a huge pendant, mesh socks over her signature SJP Collection heels, and a left field choice of a cross-body bag over a clutch. Overly smokey eyes and soft waves put this look into evening territory. Well done, SJ.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Eva Fehren- Hillary Clinton “Stronger Together” Broadway Fundraiser
While it’s hard to tell (best photo I could get), Ms.Parker’s look for our Madame President was my favorite of hers this week. SJP customized her Eva Fehren T for Hillary by slashing the sleeves pairing it with a cool mesh turtleneck and sparkly metallic full skirt.
True to form signature SJP Collection heels, dark manicure, and easy waves were incorporated. If you haven’t already, go check out the Designer T’s made special for Hillary. I picked up my Marc Jacobs one, have you?
Sarah Jessica Parker, New York Vintage- Howard Stern Interview
Sarah Jessica’s final look was as if she got dressed in the dark, and it was very reminiscent of Carrie Bradshaw. Making an appearance on Howard Stern, instead of showing up in something revealing or uber feminine, SJP decided to do track pants and plaid proving you don’t have to be slutty to be sexy. Snaps for SJ.
Emma Stone, The Row – “La La Land” NYC Screening
Emma Stone attended the screening of her upcoming flick “La La Land” in a nighty inspired slip dress by The Row paired with a gorgeous wool overcoat and simple heels. Everything about this 90’s inspired look get a thumbs up from me and I am particularly loving the shade of strawberry her hair is at the moment.
If I had to nitpick I wish there was a necklace; could have borrowed a simple one like the one her pal is sporting next to her. It may have broken up the skin to dress tone a bit.
Jennifer Lawrence, La Perla and Ralph Lauren- “La La Land” NYC Screening
If Emma is lace, then Jennifer Lawrence is leather. Rocking a sexy La Perla lingerie top and Ralph Lauren wide leg pants, the Oscar winner is giving us the right kind of sexy for a night out on the town.
Those Ralph Lauren statement pants are honestly super cool and maybe the most interesting thing JLaw has worn in a while. She’s finally figured out her hair length and color and is dressing 100% age appropriate. I am hoping this kind of attitude sticks.
Kate Hudson, Michael Kors- “God’s Love We Deliver Golden Hearts” Award
Kate. Kaaaaaaaaate. We. Have. Talked. About. This.
I’m 99.9% positive Kate Hudson borrowed this dress from the slutty corner of Carol Brady’s closet. Her inconsistence hurts so hard because when it’s good, it’s great.
Jenna Coleman, Louis Vuitton- MIPCOM Cannes Gala
Must we forget the tragic Bubble Hem incident of the late 200o’s?
Kate Hudson -2016 Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit
See what I mean about incredible inconsistency? Kate’s chic fringed pantsuit, which I believe to be Stella McCartney, is event appropriate and she’s looking all kinds of classy here. Kate, pleeeeeease…
Joe Jonas and Cole Whittle of DNCE,Kenzo x H&M- Kenzo x H&M Launch
Sure.
Sienna Miller- Kenzo x H&M- Kenzo x H&M Launch
For quite a Fashionable woman, Sienna Miller’s choice of attire couldn’t be more boring if she tried. With all the fun options she could have chosen from this is what we get? Let’s hope this was a last minute invite…
Tilda Swinton, Loewe- “Doctor Strange” Shanghai Photocall
Tilda’s Loewe photocall dress is structured yet voluminous and the print is beautiful. There are so many seams on this dress I can only imagine how long it took to construct.
Co-star Doctor Strange himself Benedict Cumberbatch looked perfectly cool and casual in well fitted neutrals.
Tilda Swinton, Chanel- “Doctor Strange” Shanghai Premiere
Tildy’s Chanel premiere look on the other hand…was like the Tin Man’s take on Chanel. Good shoes though. Was hoping for more on this one.
Tilda Swinton, Schiaparelli- Jimmy Kimmel Live!
On promotional duties for “Doctor Strange,” Ms.Swinton swung by Jimmy Kimmel Live! in a flowy geometric dress by the House of Schiaparelli paired with taupe suede heels and Pompidou style hair. It’s almost alarming to see her in so many dresses as she tends to make more of a statement with pants, but it’s a refreshing change.
Zachary Quinto and Miles McMillan, Hugo Boss- Hugo Boss Prize Event
Zachary Quinto and his man Miles are giving us Halston Realness and it’s all kinds of handsome.
Kate Bosworth, Hugo Boss- Hugo Boss Prize Event
“Blade Runner” badass bitch on the Red Carpet thanks to Kate Bosworth’s severe lip and hair combo. She looks fierce even if her dress is a tad pedestrian.
Dakota Fanning, Alexander McQueen- Sirius XM Radio
I almost fell over seeing Dakota Fanning in something other than Black, let alone a multicolored tiered dress. Paired with Saint Laurent platforms, Ms.Fanning finally dressed her age and the 70’s vibes she radiating are working for her. But, like, does she own a hairbrush?
Hi, Mr.McGregor…squeals like a little girl…
Ciara, Houghton- Ciara X Revlon Launch
If Ciara had executed this Boy-meets-Girl Houghton ensemble with more polish and finesse I’d be head over heels for it. Maybe simpler hair or pants that don’t drag? What’s on her neck? Is that a bra? I’m exhausted…
Daisy Ridley, Victoria Beckham- “The Eagle Huntress” Premiere
For the love of God, can someone get this girl a consistent Stylist? That in between “I need to grow my hair out because I chopped and died it the color of Carrot Top” is rough as hell and a simple extension or seventeen would have sufficed.
Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender, Louis Vuitton- “Light Between Ocean’s” UK Premiere
Doesn’t it seem like forever since these two have been promoting this thing?
Sometimes I love Alicia in Louis Vuitton, other times I do not. This is a case of I do not. This honestly looks like a Mother of the Bride dress and drowns the 28 year old beauty in Matronly Realness. On the plus side, real life beau and co-star Michael Fassbender is looking super studly in Navy suit with Maroon accents.
Next time, Alicia!
Rosario Dawson, Kenzo x H&M- Kenzo x H&M Launch
Remember when Coco Chanel said, “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.” I don’t think Rosario Dawson, whom I love, ever read that quote…
Ciara, Johanna Oritz- Live! With Kelly
This is much more my speed, Ciara. That overly dramatic ruffle ensemble you got goin’ on may be fueling those pregnancy rumors but you look damn good.
Chloe Sevigney, Kenzo x H&M- Kenzo x H&M Launch
Chloe Sevigney did her best Frida Kahlo impression by way of Kenzo. A dress over a skirt and a braid and a massive Art Teacher bangle? Trying. Too. Damn. Hard.
Naomie Harris, Disaya- “Moonlight” Atlanta Screening
Naomie Harris is always lovely. She has fantastic style and is never boring on the Red Carpet. Her statement Disaya skirt with heavy stitching and embroidered panels paired with a simple White tank is a unique take on casual.
Naomie Harris, Self-Portrait- 2016 Veuve Polo Classic
My first reaction as not to like those Louboutin pointed brogues, but upon further refection, I am totally in love with them. They compliment her Self-Portrait mini with uneven hem and strategic cutouts. What is that strange little bang tho?
Emily Blunt, Tory Burch and Valentino-Hillary Clinton “Stronger Together” Broadway Fundraiser
Fellow Brit Emily Blunt showed her support for our future President alongside SJP. Pairing a Tory Burch for Hillary Clinton shirt, which you can purchase here, and an incredible Valentino brocade skirt. Ms. Blunt was ladylike and cool.
Mandy Moore, Vintage- 2016 Veuve Polo Classic
I’ve loved Mandy Moore since “Candy” dropped in 1999. It thrills me her new NBC show “This is Us” is a hit. Mandy attended the Veuve Polo Classic in a floral vintage bias cut dress with scarlet heels and a matching lip. While a tad aging, it seems event appropriate and a look easily replicated if you need inspiration for Sunday Tea or an Engagement Party.
Naomi Campbell, Azzadine Alaia- The Women’s Brain Health Initiative
Naomi Campbell is quite the loyal follower of Alaia. Like Mandy, seems event appropriate and a nice enough look, but doesn’t do too much for me. Matching Alaia booties and that silky shiny hair bring it home.
*Fun Fact: Last time I as in Paris Mr.Alaia walked right by me and he’s the cutest little nugget of a man.
Kristen Bell, Prada- 2016 Veuve Polo Classic
I love Kristen Bell, in everything. I really love her. You know what I don’t love? Anything about this damn look.
