Looks From The Week!

Hi Everyone,

We’ve made it to Friday in (hopefully) one piece which means as a reward we get to oooh, ahhh, and be deserving snarky about Celebrity Fashion choices. Right? Please enjoy some looks from the week!

This weekend marks the 88th Academy Awards so check back next week for The New York Narrative’s take on every Red Carpet to after party look. Hoping for full blown glamour mixed with a few crash and burn outings. Can’t wait.

So take a look, enjoy the weekend—get outside it’ll be gorgeous, and and enjoy!

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Roberto Cavalli-Elle Style Awards 2016

Everyone else should just go home. Really though, if I was a Woman and caught even a glimpse of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s long-ass perfect legs making their way onto the same Red Carpet as me I’d throw my hands up and cry into a burger.

Giving us the right combo of sex, Supermodel, and effortless glamour, Ms.Huntington-Whiteley’s one sleeved dynamic leather mini’s over-the-top hip bow paired with beachy waves and simple heels is how to do “va-va-voom” without looking like a Vegas hooker. Legit perfection.

Naomie Harris, Altuzarra-“Spectre” TV Promo

Naomi Harris’ vibrant Orange Altuzzara shift with exaggerated button detailing, hint of asymmetry, and dainty strappy heels is one of the better Promo tour looks I have seen in a while. One to watch, Ms.Harris never disappointing as her hair and make-up are perfectly complimentary to her vibrant shift. We’ll excuse the creases as Ms.Harris was most likely sitting for her press like a lady being a lady answering questions in a ladylike fashion. Damn she’s classy.

Elizabeth Olsen, Gucci-Gucci Fall 2016 Show

Elizabeth Olsen sat front row at the incredible Gucci show this week rocking a ladylike cool-girl head-to-toe Gucci ensemble with just the right amount of Rock N Roll to it. Lizzie topped her cream lace dress featuring a Schoolgirl collar with a luxurious logo pearl button coat that was perfectly balanced with her covetable Sylvie bag and the most incredible pair of cherry Red t-strap platforms, which I’d like for Fire Island this Summer please.

Ms.Olsen’s dark manicure, naturally lush make-up, and perfect ombre waves (“bronde,” if you will) only amped up her Winter White effortlessness. There isn’t a single thing I don’t love about this look. Also, please note how she arrived and departed the show: that is a Movie Star moment if I’ve ever seen one. She’s Michelle Pfeiffer, it’s settled.

Alessandro Michele is doing really incredible things over at Gucci which fit Lizzie’s personal style—and will no doubt be showing up on every major Red Carpet here on out. Crossing my fingers she and Scarlet Johansson chose pieces from this collection for their “Captain America:Civil War” press tour.

Elizabeth Olsen, Calvin Klein Collection-Elle Style Awards 2016

The night before Lizzie, who took home Actress of the Year, was also the definition of a cool girl in her Boy-meets-Girl Calvin Klein Collection ensemble featuring a sleeveless duster, wide legged pants with raw edge, and lingerie inspired bralette. Perfectly swept up glossy locks, dark manicure, and purple hued eyes rounded out her crisp offering.

This will 100% not be everyone’s cup of tea— I will say, those Black Dior pointed heels are a bit of head-scratcher— but for me it’s a breath of fresh air as Lizzie continues to be someone I’m excited to see on the Red Carpet. Of the two, I prefer her Gucci but this is a modern take on an “Annie Hall” classic and definitely a stand out on this particular Red Carpet.

Cate Blanchett, Versace-2016 Costume Designer Guild Awards

To no one’s surprise Cate Blanchett was regal, sophisticated, and any other word related to chic, chic, chic in a metallic Black Versace number with a massive diamond collar necklace and a loose updo. Accessories to a minimum kept the Oscar winner shining. Cate will be joining the Marvel universe playing a badass villain in the upcoming Thor movie so we have many a promo tour look to get excited for.

BeckNico.jpg

David Beckham-London’s Heathrow Airport

The New York Narrative doesn’t generally include street style (it’s really Paparazzi, let’s get real) but David Beckham’s all Black look topped off with crisp white kicks, a Louis Vuitton laptop sleeve, and that perfect hair needed to be featured. This is beyond a chic-ass Menswear look that I will 100% be recreating. I’m just not sure anyone will be taking my photo when I walk through JFK…

Nico Tortorella- Logo’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 8 Premiere Party

On par with Beck, “Younger” sexpot Nico Tortorella joined the Queens on the NYC Red Carpet of Logo’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race” for the Season 8 premiere. I love everything about Mr.Tortorella’s Jame Dean-esque look and I’ll assume the matte Black ear make-up is a nod to some Drag Queen History. It was that kind of Red Carpet.

Check out all the Queen’s looks here; it’s honestly the best Red Carpet I’ve seen so far this year.

OliviaJess.jpg

Olivia Munn, David Koma-Vanity Fair Young Hollywood Celebration

Olivia Munn is super hot. That is just a fact. Her David Koma crystallized mini, sexy Louboutin’s, vampy make-up, and enviable waves complete a sexed up yet classy look. Damn, girl.

Jess Glynn, Gucci-Brit Awards 2016

Jess Gylnn made quite the statement in Gucci this week at the Brit Awards. You’d think the”Hold My Hand” singer would let that massive hair take center stage, but no, she challenged that frizz with a really beautiful brocade pantsuit and killer striped platforms. If you’re having a bit of Deja Vu it’s because Lady Gaga wore a very similar (custom) Gucci suit to the Super Bowl this year.

Adele.jpg

Adele, Prada-Brit Awards 2016

Seeing Adele in this whimsical ruffle oxblood custom Prada gown giving the amazing songstress major cleavage and serious witch vibes makes me beyond happy. From those dark talons, vamped up make-up, and textured strawberry blonde I am very, very satisfied here. That ring is also another level.

BAD NEWS.jpg

Charlie XCX-Elle Style Awards 2016

Thrilled Charlie XCX tore up her bedspread “Gone With the Wind” style to make the most unflattering dress I’ve ever seen. Lopsided boobies are so damn chic.

Paloma Faith, Armani-Elle Style Awards 2016

Had this been worn on someone who can rock a paper bag and look like a million bucks (ahem, Cate Blanchett I’m looking at you) it could have totally worked. Those bangs are fighting those feathers so hard and no one won…oh, Paloma…

Lottie Moss, Phillip Plein-Elle Style Awards 2016

Apparently this person is related to Kate Moss and was told the theme of the Elle Style Awards was slutty Tin Man.

OliviaAndCo.jpg

Olivia Wilde, Elie Saab-Unite4:Humanity Gala

Hot Mama Olivia Wilde wore a stunning long sleeve multi-pattern lace Elie Saab gown with the most textural mermaid brain imaginable. Gorgeous bronde tones matched with that dewy make-up? Perfection.

Jennifer Lawrence, Naeem Khan-Dinner for Equality

Jennifer Lawrence embraced her naturally frizzy hair sweeping that platinum bob up letting her gorgeous enameled sheer top and lush of the moment velvet culottes shine. For me this a very New York after party look rather than LA charity dinner, but I like JLaw is allowing for some new Fashion direction with the help of a new stylist.

The best thing about this entire look are those insanely beautiful Sophia Webster crystal heeled satin sandals. Carrie Bradshaw would absolutely mug her for them.

Jennifer Lopez, Zuhair Murad-American Idol Finalists Party

Jennifer Lopez was back to her fabulous JLo self after a quick shift to the glam side at the Globes, donning a ruby Red crystal Zuhair Murad bodysuit, cherry pumps, and a textured lob. Even though this is very much in JLo’s wheelhouse there’s still a level of sophistication and breath of fresh that doesn’t make this a total rerun. Maybe it’s the hair? She’s got the cool girl length so between that and her body-oddy-oddy this whole thing is working overtime in the best way possible.

Daisy Ridley-Oscar Wilde Gala

“Star Wars” cutie Daisy Ridley put her best Louboutin clad foot forward in a perfectly cut textural Black suit with flitted waist and beachy waves. Event appropriate and just the right amount of cool.

Kate.jpg

Kate Hudson-“Pretty Happy” Illinois Book Signing

Kate looks like she drunkenly got dressed on the set of “Little House on the Prairie.” Huh?

Kate Hudson-“Pretty Happy” California Book Signing

Ms.Hudson switched gears from Barnyard to sophisticated in an all Black Menswear influenced ensemble and cap toe heels. I’m not the biggest fan of Ms.Hudson’s new collar-length chop, especially here where her severe center part looks a little mid-90’s WB to me.

Kate Hudson, Thakoon-“Pretty Happy” Florida Book Signing

From the waist up this works. Ms.Hudson’s wavy braided updo is modern, her abs look out of this world, and her sheer lace-y Thakoon crop-top is really beautiful. The ballgown hanging off her size double zero waist on the other hand is not so good.

Kate2.jpg

Kate Hudson and Goldie Hawn- Fabletics Celebrates “Pretty Happy” Book Launch

Of all her looks this is how I like my Kate: effortless, minimal make-up, messy hair, Boho vibes, and cuddling with her Momma Goldie. Goldie Hawn should be on every Red Carpet. She’s perfection personified, challenge this and you will not win.

Ellie Goulding, Stella McCartney-Elle Style Awards 2016

Ellie Goulding has taken a Fashion turn in the right direction for the last couple months, and her lingerie inspired Stella McCartney gown continues her streak. You may remember Taraji P Henson wore a blush version of this to the Golden Globes this year.

Neve Campbell- “House Of Cards” Season 4 Premiere

I am so painfully bored by Neve Campbell’s color blocked look it hurts. Neve, you’re now a series regular on one of the most critically acclaimed shows of the moment. Let’s maybe try next time?

LukeRIhanna.jpg

Luke Evans-Brit Awards 2016

Luke Evan’s perfectly cut three piece suit featuring a sartorial polka-dot tie and pocket square is not only the most gorgeous shade of Blue, but a really beautiful suit in and of itself. A cropped cut and a slightly porn-y goatee make this a fantastic Menswear reference for the future, fellas. Interesting the vest is a scoop cut and not a V; refreshing.

Rihanna, Armani Prive-Brit Awards 2016

Rihanna…RIHANNA. Come on, what is this? Did you pick this up in the sale section of Macy’s next to the other Prom gowns not chosen? Not digging that blunt wig either…Ri Ri, we expect more from you.

Louis Tomlison and Liam Payne of One Direction-Brit Awards 2016

Pretty sure Louis and Liam from One Direction were super high on this Red Carpet, and you know what? They should be. They should be dating Supermodels and having illegitimate children. They are in a successful Boy-band and that is what Boy-banders (is that a word?) do. Both looks are perfectly suitable and age appropriate.

Nicole.jpg

Nicole Kidman, Gucci-WhatsOnStage Theater Awards

Another gorgeous Gucci Red Carpet moment for us! Statuesque Nicole Kidman wore a beautiful nude sartorial gown from the Italian house with a crystallized bird and flower vignette and ladylike bow empire waist. Ms.Kidman’s hair is a little matronly for me, but those diamonds and dark manicure set her soft gown off so well I’ll look the other way.

Jourdan Dunn, Emilio de la MOrena-Elle Style Awards 2016

Style Influencer of The Year and Supermodel Jourdan Dunn wore a lush Emilio de la Morena look featuring an off the shoulder slashed crushed velvet plum top and slitten crystal skirt offset perfectly by strappy metallic heels. She’s oozing sex here.

Bad.jpg

Lea Michele, Solace and Vatanika-Vanity Fair Young Hollywood Celebration

Lea Michele’s Solace top and Vatanika pants look straight up out of a Janet Jackson’s  “That’s The Way Love Goes” music video and somehow are making her perfect abs look a bit flabby. Me thinks Ms.Michele needs to break with whomever is styling her.

Naya Rivera, Tadashi Shoji-Vanity Fair Young Hollywood Celebration

With all her “Glee” money you’d think Naya Rivera could have bought herself a better rack. I’ve seen Drag Queen’s with a better breast plate.

Keira Knightley, Erdem- Erdem London Fashion Week Party

Keira Knightley looks Gothic-Glam cool in her long sleeved armor influence Erdem sequin gown and Victorian-esue boots. Digging Ms.Knightley’s messy hair and minimal make-up, but I’m craving for a smokey eye and stick straight locks. Would have enhanced the look to another level.

Liv Tyler, Stella McCartney-Elle Style Awards 2016

Television Actress of The Year Liv Tyler donned a custom off the shoulder electric Blue gown by BFF Stella McCartney that allowing the pregnant actress to glow. Kind of miss Liv’s super long hippie hair though.

Kylie.jpg

Kylie Minogue and Joshua Sasse, Dolce & Gabbana-Brit Awards 2016

The Fedora may not have been the best accessory for Kylie’s princess dress with super weird shoe choice, but fiance and total smokeshow Joshua Sasse (“Galavant”) certainly was.

Bella.jpg

Bella Hadid, Julien MacDonald-Elle Style Awards 2016

I’d like to love Bella Hadid in this Julien MacDonald fringe showstopper paired with over the knee “Mod Squad” boots, but this is not a piece for the Red Carpet. This is something saved for Editorial, the cover of the a magazine to make a statement, not to swallow a 19 year old model whole. I swore this was Jessie J when I first saw her.

Kieran Shipka-2016 Costume Designer Guild Awards

16 year old “Mad Men” actress Kieran Shipka looked every bit the 16 year old in a frothy lacy tea length strapless dove Grey dress with a nipped in belt and wavy hair. It’s nice to see a 16 year old actually dressing age appropriate. I don’t love “adorable,” but I am loving her cutesy look.

TinaAndCo.jpg

Tina Fey-“Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” New York Screening

Tina Fey wore the New Yorker’s uniform for a special screening of her upcoming film “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot”: Black. The gorgeous funnylady did allow herself a pop of Red via a soft oversized clutch.

Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar- LA Lakers Game

Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar did court-side right at the LA Lakers Game finding Jay in a Black and Grey offering featuring Yeezys and a structured blazer hanging off his shoulders (very Kim K) while Kendrick jumped on the monochromatic bandwagon in matching Grey and crisp White sneakers. Just the right amount of cool without be too, too showy for the cameras.

KrystenEmily.jpg

Krysten Ritter, Lela Rose-2016 Costume Designer Guild Awards

“Jessica Jones” powerhouse Krysten Ritter did Gothic-Glam perfectly in an embroidered high crystal neck Lela Rose blush gown offset with jet Black hair, a grounding Black clutch, and deep hued make-up. Ladylike toughened up always gets a thumbs up in my book and perfectly fits Ms.Ritter’s personality.

Emily Ratajkowski, Andrew Gn-2016 Costume Designer Guild Awards

I found myself shocked that I finally liked a look from Emily Ratajkowski. The beauty has quite the bod and sometimes lets is all hand out (sloppy yabbo’s) and not in a good way. Her lilac satin and fringe gown balances her sexed up look; soft waves and complimentary make-up help too.

GodOfEgyp.jpg

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau-“Gods of Egypt” New York City Premiere

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau looked rather dashing in his Navy and Black separates offset by a gorgeous pair of plum dress shoes. If I had to nitpick, I’d get rid of that weird tartan looking tie; something sleek in a deep hue would have been so much more appropriate. Perfectly masculine grooming should be noted.

Elodie Yung-“Gods of Egypt” New York City Premiere

Newcomer, and the current Elektra to Matt Murdock’s Daredevil, Elodie Yung looked angelic and lovely in a boho-esque sheer deep plunging gown, beachy waves, and minimal make-up. The gown is a little too long and it’s not much to write home about, but for one of her first outings on a promo tour it’s not bad. I hope she wears more structural pieces when promoting next month’s “Daredevil.” She’d look killer in a really beautifully cut satin suit.

Olly Murs-Brit Awards 2016

Olly Murs, you cute. Not cute? The fit of that suit, especially the pants…what happened, handsome?

KateCeline.jpg

Kate Beckinsale, Hamel-2016 Costume Designer Guild Awards

Much like fellow beautiful Brit Kate Winslet, we always know what to expect from Kate Beckinsale: a smokey eye, nude lip, high ponytail, and a body-con mermaid gown in either Black, White, or Nude. I guess if it ain’t broke don’t fix it because she looks incredible. She’s 42, just for the record and apparently  aging backwards.

Celine Dion, Custom House of Schiaparelli- Celine Dion Vegas Concert

Celine Dion returned to the stage this week after the tragic passing of her husband and looked incredible doing it. The talented artists’ costumes are meticulously curated by Costume Designer Annie Horth and this custom Schiaparelli “Galaxy Gown” with it’s strong celestial theme chosen is just breathtaking. I’ve never seen any of her permanence wear for this tour and felt this needed a moment.

KArlieAndCo.jpg

Karlie Kloss, Stella McCartney-Elle Style Awards 2016

Inspiring Woman of The Year Karlie Kloss chose a simple Stella McCartney gown with a large belt nipping her perfect waist and scarlet lip. Basic, yes, but classic and chic to accept her honor in.

Isla Fisher, Ungaro-“The Verdict” London Premiere

Redhead’s in Green is my favorite. Isla Fisher looks nice enough in her mossy gown, but the creases are making her look a little stumpy here; don’t these women know to lay down in the limo en route to the Red Carpet? Those tight, tight late 2000’s curls are also doing her no favors.

Rachel McAdams, David Koma-Vanity Fair & Barney’s Celebrate “Spotlight”

Oscar nominee Rachel McAdams looked all kinds of confident in a beautiful Blue body con David Koma long sleeved dress with dramatic flutter sleeve and exposed shoulders. A super platinum bob and leg extending nude heels kept the look grounded, but I am wishing she punked that hair up and did a more bold lip choice. Still, can’t complain.
